Weyermann® Blood Orange Spirit wins ‘Grand Gold’ at the Frankfurt Spirits Trophy
After the award for our Weyermann® brewmanufacture beers last week, our Weyermann® distillery is now following suit: We are very proud to announce that our Weyermann® Blood Orange Spirit won by maceration and distillation was awarded the coveted ‘Grand Gold’ at the 9th Frankfurt International Trophy. This international award confirms that we not only set standards in the world of malt and beer, but also in the fine art of distillation.
From pulp to liquid gold
Since 2014, our distillery at Brennerstrasse 15 in Bamberg has been producing premium distillates that combine traditional craftsmanship with innovative techniques. Our award-winning blood orange spirit is based on selected, freshly harvested blood oranges, which are processed under the expert guidance of our experienced team of master distillers, consisting of Phillipp Schwarz and Laurenz Schorner, to create an exceptional distillate at 42% vol.
The process is time-consuming and precise: from careful preparation of the fruit to gentle maceration and perfect distillation, we take all the time necessary to guarantee top quality. We select the valuable core of the distillate with trained sensory analysis, which brings out the characteristic freshness and complex flavour of the blood oranges in perfect form.
International success against strong competition
The Frankfurt International Trophy is one of the most prestigious competitions in the industry. With a total of 3,500 products submitted from 44 countries, the competition was formidable. We are particularly proud that our blood orange brandy scored an impressive 96 points, easily surpassing the high hurdle of 92 points for the ‘Grand Gold’.
The award follows the success achieved last year in the Falstaff Spirits Special 2024, where our distillate also received an excellent rating.

Ingredients:
– 5 cl Weyermann® Blood Orange Spirit
– 15 cl tonic water
– Blood orange slice and rosemary sprig to garnish
– Ice cubes
Preparation: Pour ice cubes into a highball glass, add the Weyermann® Blood Orange Spirit and top up with tonic water. Garnish with a slice of blood orange and a sprig of rosemary.
