Weyermann® on Tour: Fedor Nikolashkin at the Brewing Conference “With Brewers, for Brewers” 2026 in Karlovac

From March 26 to 28, 2026, the fourth edition of the international specialist conference “With Brewers, for Brewers” took place in Karlovac – organized by the Karlovac University of Applied Sciences.

The three-day event brought together professionals from breweries of all sizes to share knowledge, discuss technical developments, and encourage an exchange between practical experience, science, and international expert audiences.

Fedor Nikolashkin, Weyermann® International Malting and Brewing Expert, traveled to Croatia as an ambassador and represented our red‑and‑yellow world as a speaker in the technical program.

On Thursday, he opened the workshop program with a two-hour practical session titled “New Trends in Malt and Beer Technology with Weyermann® Specialty Malts.”

The workshop offered an in-depth insight into current developments in malting and their relevance for contemporary brewing practices.

Guided malt and beer tastings gave participants the opportunity to experience the sensory characteristics of different malt profiles and production methods.

A focused discussion of selected recipes from the Weyermann® Brew Manufacture highlighted the connections between raw material selection, process optimization, and final product quality.

Designed specifically for professional brewers, the practice-oriented format fostered technical exchange and deepened the participants’ understanding of the technical and sensory dimensions of malt in the brewing process.

Friday marked the main congress day.

Technical presentations, discussions, and networking formats provided numerous opportunities for interaction with colleagues from the brewing world.

Participants gained practical insights into current topics in brewing technology, quality control, and innovation development.

The day concluded with beer tastings followed by an evening program at the traditional restaurant Kostanjac.

Additional workshops took place on Saturday, including a hands-on seminar on microbiological quality control.

This day also offered many touchpoints between science, practical application, and international expertise.

Fedor Nikolashkin used the conference to engage in numerous conversations with brewing professionals and to present the diverse possibilities offered by Weyermann® Specialty Malts.

After the event, he visited customers in the region to strengthen existing partnerships and create new momentum for future collaboration.

We extend our sincere thanks to Fedor Nikolashkin for his dedicated commitment, and to the Karlovac University of Applied Sciences for their excellent organization.

The 2026 “With Brewers, for Brewers” conference once again proved to be a valuable meeting point for high-quality technical content, international perspectives, and thriving brewery partnerships.
