Weyermann® brew manufacture succeeds at the World Beer Awards 2023
Fantastic news from London: six Weyermann® beer specialties convinced at this year’s World Beer Awards and were awarded gold, silver and bronze medals!
This is the sixth award in a row for our brewery at the international beer competition!
Triple country winner
In the three subcategories “Lager – Seasonal: Maibock/Helles Bock”, “Lager – Dark” and “Flavoured Beer – Smoke” our brewing specialties were able to assert themselves and win a gold medal.
Two beers from our Bamberger Hofbräu® line are among the gold medal winners, the Weyermann® Bamberger Hofbräu® Schwarzbier and the Weyermann® Bamberger Hofbräu® Maibock. The Bamberger Hofbräu® brand has belonged to our family malting company since 2006. Since then, the beers of this traditional brand have been brewed according to the original recipe in our brewery – we currently have nine Bamberger Hofbräu® specialties in our portfolio!
Our popular classic with the No. 1, our Weyermann® Schlotfegerla®, which is a full-bodied, dark smoked beer with fine beech wood smoky notes and a distinctive malt taste of dark chocolate and bread crust and which has already received multiple awards, was also awarded gold.
All three gold award-winning beers achieved the best results in a national comparison and were therefore selected Germany Country Winner!
Silver medals went to our No. 6, Weyermann® Bamberg Rogg’t, in the subcategory “Specialty Beer – Rye, and our No. 39, Weyermann® Hop into Spring, in the subcategory “Lager – Hoppy Pilsener”.
Last but not least, we are happy about bronze for our Weyermann® Eraclea Mediterranean Pilsner, brewed with Weyermann® Eraclea Pilsner malt from Italian Eraclea barley.

The World Beer Awards honor international beers in ten main categories and associated subcategories every year. An international jury of experts – with our Weyermann® brewmaster Constantin Förtner being one of the experts – is responsible for evaluating the submitted beer specialties. This is followed by the awarding of gold, silver and bronze medals and the selection of the “Country Winner” and “World’s Best”.
