Triple Gold for the Weyermann® Distillery

Fantastic news from the DLG (Deutsche Landwirtschafts-Gesellschaft = German Agricultural Society): three nobel spirits from the Weyermann® Distillery have been awarded the „Goldener Preis“ ( = Golden Prize).

Congratulations to our Weyermann® Master Distiller Philipp Schwarz on these well-deserved awards and recognition of his achievements!

The Weyermann® Barrel-aged Rum, the Weyermann® Double Juniper and the Weyermann® Double Cask Single Malt Whisky were able to convince the DLG experts.

The Weyermann® Barrel-aged Rum was stored in selected red wine barrels in the Weyermann® barrelroom for two years. The balanced composition enchants the nose with notes of pineapple and banana. On the palate, the tropical influences unite with subtle caramel and a hint of chocolate. The lasting mild finish of this noble spirit rounds off the harmonious aroma profile.

With the Weyermann® Double Juniper, Philipp Schwarz breathed new life into this traditional category of spirits. Distilled on our copper still from handpicked, highly aromatic juniper berries, the result is a fruity, distinctive juniper spirit with a mild finish – what a fantastic remake!

In a European oak cask and a sherry cask, our Weyermann® Double Cask Single Malt Whisky aged to perfection for six years. In the nose this high-proof specialty made from selected Weyermann® specialty malts convinces with notes of cocoa and ripe banana. The pronounced cocoa aroma wonderfully comes through on the palate, which is lovingly caressed by notes of orange.

Our experienced distillery manager is extremely pleased with the triple gold for his original creations. “I am very proud that our new Weyermann® Double Cask Single Malt Whisky, Weyermann® Rum and our new Weyermann® Double Juniper have been awarded gold! The DLG quality award for spirits is very important to me, as only industry experts are allowed to examine products at the DLG, who have to pass sensory tests in advance in order to be able to evaluate the products as examiner. It’s wonderful, that our fine spirits, developed and produced with so much passion, were able to convince the expert jury of their high quality.”

The DLG test center tests the quality of around 23,000 products every year. The marketable products are retrieved from ongoing production and subjected to extensive quality controls. The focus of the DLG test lies on the sensory analysis of the food, which provides information about the appearance, smell, taste and consistency.
