Weyermann® brew manufacture wins gold and silver at Frankfurt International Trophy 2025
Gold and silver for Weyermann®! At the renowned Frankfurt International Trophy 2025, our beer specialities triumphed twice in competition with over 500 international competitors. Our characterful West Coast IPA No. 78 Go West convinced the high-calibre jury with 86 out of 100 points and secured gold, while our anniversary beer Weyermann® No. 100 Centennial Isaria 1924® won the silver medal in the Red and Amber Lager category with 84 points. Proof of our brewing philosophy, which combines traditional craftsmanship with innovative approaches.
‘This double award confirms our philosophy of combining traditional brewing craftsmanship with innovative approaches,’ explains Sabine Weyermann, Managing Director of Weyermann® Malzfabrik. ‘Both award-winning beers perfectly represent what our brewery is known for: the highest quality, precision craftsmanship and flavour profiles full of character.’
Master brewer Constantin Förtner adds: “We make no compromises when developing our beer specialities. Weyermann® No. 78 Go West combines intense hop flavour with perfectly balanced bitterness – a true masterpiece of modern brewing.
With Centennial Isaria 1924®, we deliberately focussed on the harmony between malty complexity and subtle caramel notes. The awards confirm that we have met the tastes of beer fans and experts alike.”
Gold for West Coast IPA with strong character
Our award-winning Weyermann® No. 78 Go West is a powerful West Coast IPA with 60 bittering units, which impresses with its orange colour and strong hop aroma. The malt base of Weyermann® Barke® Pilsner and Barke® Munich malt creates a solid foundation with a slight sweetness and nutty flavours that blend harmoniously with the hop profile. The use of Cascade and Chinook hops gives the beer fruity notes reminiscent of a tropical fruit basket – particularly grapefruit and passion fruit. A subtle finish of fresh flowers and resinous pine rounds off the flavour experience. The IPA presents itself with a white to cream-coloured, long-lasting head.
Silver for malt-accentuated anniversary beer
With the Weyermann® No. 100 Centennial Isaria 1924® we are honouring the 100th anniversary of the historic summer brewing barley Isaria 1924®.
This variety was first authorised for commercial beer production in 1924 and is the oldest spring malting barley ever bred for brewing purposes. This beer creation in a dark amber colour is adorned with a fine-pored head. The beguiling aroma of sweet caramel, paired with red berries, emerges immediately after pouring. With 30 bitter units, the beer impresses with a tangy attack, a pleasant bitterness and a subtle malty sweetness that is in perfect harmony with berry notes. The festival beer in the style of a red and amber lager is characterised by a slender body with light caramel notes and leaves a refreshingly tart finish that invites you to take another sip.
The Frankfurt International Trophy is regarded as one of the most important evaluation platforms for beers in international comparison. The strict assessment criteria and the expert jury make the awards particularly valuable for the prize-winning breweries.
We are proud of the achievements of our hard-working brewing team and congratulate them wholeheartedly on the well-deserved award and recognition of their work!
