Three DLG Gold Medals for the Weyermann® Distillery
Very welcome news from the Weyermann® Distillery: At this year’s DLG Awards, three specialties from Bamberg received gold awards.
The gold medals went to:
• Weyermann® Roggstar Single Cask Rye Whisky
• Weyermann® Blutorangenbrand M.u.D.
• Weyermann® Wahlsche Schnapsbirnenbrand – matured in an acacia wood barrel
The DLG quality assessment for spirits is one of the industry’s recognized expert assessments. It focuses on sensory criteria such as appearance, color, clarity, aroma, taste, typicity, and harmony. The evaluation is complemented by laboratory analyses as well as packaging and labeling checks. The products are assessed anonymously, allowing the experts to evaluate their quality without knowing the manufacturer.
Three specialties, three gold medals
Weyermann® Roggstar Single Cask Rye Whisky brings a distinctive character and characteristic rye aroma to the glass. Its multifaceted barrel maturation gives it depth, structure, and a special place within the Weyermann® Distillery range.
Weyermann® Blutorangenbrand M.u.D. impressed the DLG expert jury with its fruity aroma, clear profile, and refined elegance. It represents creative distilling expertise from Bamberg and special moments of enjoyment from artisanal small-batch production.
Weyermann® Wahlsche Schnapsbirnenbrand, matured in an acacia wood barrel, also received gold. The fruity aroma of the Schnapsbirne pear combines with a mild woody note from the barrel maturation and a harmonious finish.
These three awards are wonderful recognition of the quality and diversity of the Weyermann® Distillery. Since 2014, it has been producing whisky and gin specialties, grain, beer, and fruit brandies, as well as liqueurs, based on professional expertise, selected raw materials, and the special malt expertise of Weyermann® Malt.
