Gold for Weyermann® Weyerol® at the Frankfurt International Trophy 2026

Weyermann® Weyerol® was awarded a gold medal at the Frankfurt International Trophy 2026. The international panel of experts recognized the bitter liqueur from the Weyermann® Distillery in Bamberg for its sensory quality, its clear stylistic profile, and its distinctive character.

The Frankfurt International Trophy ranks among the major international competitions for wine, beer, and spirits. Entries are evaluated in blind tastings according to clearly defined criteria, including aroma, taste, balance, and typicity. With this gold award, the jury confirms the high quality standard that defines the development and production of Weyermann® Weyerol®.

Bitter Liqueur with Malt Expertise

Weyermann® Weyerol® combines selected citrus fruits, herbs, and roots with the malt expertise of Weyermann® Malting Company. The bitter liqueur is refined with Weyermann® Eraclea Pilsner Malt, which adds a delicate malty note and additional depth. The result is a well-balanced bitter liqueur with a fresh citrus profile, subtle bitterness, and a harmonious finish.
With an alcohol content of 17% ABV, Weyermann® Weyerol® offers versatile enjoyment: neat, on ice, as a long drink, or as a base for an aperitif. During the colder months, it is also served as “Hot Weyerol®”.

International Recognition for Craft Distillation from Bamberg

The gold medal at the Frankfurt International Trophy underlines the position of the Weyermann® Distillery as part of the Weyermann® world of enjoyment. Since 2014, spirits have been produced there in handcrafted small batches. They are based on in-house malts and combine sensory precision with regional roots.
The Bamberg Spritz Weyermann® Weyerol® exemplifies this approach: a bitter liqueur that combines classic herbal liqueur tradition with modern interpretation and brewing malt expertise.

About the Weyermann® Distillery

The Weyermann® Distillery has been part of the traditional Weyermann® Malting Company in Bamberg since 2014. With two Arnold-Holstein stills, a wide range of whisky and gin specialties, grain, beer, and fruit spirits, as well as liqueurs, is produced. The use of more than 90 in-house malt varieties enables the development of complex, characterful distillates. All products represent craftsmanship, technical expertise, and Weyermann®’s long-standing quality tradition since 1879.

The portfolio has also been expanded to include a non-alcoholic Weyerol® variant. Weyermann® Weyerol® non-alcoholic reflects the characteristic aroma of the bitter liqueur and offers a distinct alcohol-free alternative.

Weyermann® Weyerol® – both classic and non-alcoholic – is currently available at the Bamberger Hofbräu by Weyermann® after-work “Stehausschank” in the courtyard of the Weyermann® Pilot Brewery: every Thursday from May to September starting at 4:30 p.m. at Memmelsdorfer Straße 75 in Bamberg.
