Women Brew for a Good Cause – Weyermann® Women’s Brewing Day 2026
On March 6th, 2026, we celebrated this year’s Women’s Brewing Day in recognition of International Women’s Day on March 8th – an established tradition in the Weyermann® calendar that we have maintained since 2016.
The guiding principle of this day is our contribution to the Bamberg Women’s Shelter.
For many years, the proceeds of the annual special brew have supported the important work of the Sozialdienst Katholischer Frauen e.V., strengthening a place that provides safety for women and children in our region.
Each year, our female employees experience this day as a visible sign of appreciation, connection, and equality.
International Women’s Day has been observed worldwide since 1911 and reminds us how essential equal opportunities and fair living conditions are for women and girls.
This day raises awareness of the progress already achieved and the steps that still require continued attention.
It is important to us to honor this meaning and connect it with a shared experience that resonates strongly within our company.
A Shared Day at the Weyermann® Brewmanufacture
Under the expert guidance of Weyermann® brewmaster Constantin Förtner and the team of the Weyermann® Brewmanufacture, around 20 female employees gathered in Bamberg.
At each station, they explored the individual steps of the brewing process and gained a deeper understanding of this craft.
Working together in groups created lively exchanges and meaningful conversations throughout the day.
The 2026 Special Brew: Weyermann® No. 54 – Ick bin Himbeere
This year’s focus was a special brew: Weyermann® No. 54 – Ick bin Himbeere, a beverage inspired by the style of a Berliner Weisse.
The mash consists of Weyermann® Premium Pilsner Malt, Weyermann® CARAHELL®, Weyermann® Wheat Malt Pale, and a proportion of Weyermann® Acidulated Malt.
In harmony with a fine selection of hops and Fermentis® dry yeast, the result is a flavorful, top-fermented summer beer.
A key element of this brew is the raspberry purée.
The participants prepared it themselves – freshly puréed, readied on-site, and added directly to the kettle.
This addition gives the finished beverage its color intensity, fruity character, and mild, summer-like acidity.
With 3.8% alcohol, a gentle mouthfeel, and a pink foam crown, it is a refreshing companion for warm days.
Baking as an exciting Part of Women’s Brewing Day
Parallel to brewing, the participants prepared raspberry rolls with Weyermann® Craft Baker Friedrich Rauh using a yeast dough enriched with Weyermann® CARAHELL®.
The combination of malt, raspberries, and craft baking created a memorable highlight within the day’s activities.
Donation Handover to the Bamberg Women’s Shelter
The highlight of Women’s Brewing Day is the annual donation to the Bamberg Women’s Shelter .
This year, we were once again able to donate €2,500 – the amount generated from last year’s beer, Weyermann® No. 4 Crazy Coriander.
Silke Thomas, Head of Marketing, personally presented the donation check to the representatives of the Frauenhaus.
In 2026, the focus lies especially on the work carried out for children at the Shelter.
Women seeking safety can bring their children with them at any time.
This year’s contribution will help fund the creation of new multifunctional rooms.
These rooms will offer children of all ages opportunities for creative activities, shared moments, or quiet time.
This creates a space that offers orientation and stability.
From the Brewery to Our Shop
The brew is currently maturing in the Weyermann® Brewmanufacture.
Weyermann® No. 54 – Ick bin Himbeere is available at the Weyermann® Shop Living & Drinking and received special recognition during the Women’s Brewing Day through the joint preparation of the raspberry purée.
We are pleased to present this fruity specialty and, at the same time, support a project that plays a vital role within our region.
We thank all Weyermann® employees who helped shape this day with their dedication.
Your contribution made the Women’s Brewing Day a valuable experience and strengthened the red-and-yellow bond within our company.
To conclude, we extend our sincere thanks to our management.
This event shows each year how meaningful it is to create a space dedicated to our female employees and to bring the spirit of International Women’s Day to life.
