Best Korn 2025: Weyermann® Doppelkorn Receives DLG Special Award

Chestnut wood, fine Weyermann® wheat malt, and a touch of Bamberg: this unique combination makes the Weyermann® Johann Baptist Doppelkorn the “Best Korn 2025.” The German Agricultural Society (DLG) has honored our distillate with a special award for outstanding product quality.

As part of the International DLG Quality Test for Spirits, the Weyermann® Johann Baptist Doppelkorn impressed the expert jury in all sensory criteria – from appearance and clarity to taste and harmony. This underlines Weyermann®’s leading position in Franconian distillation craftsmanship.

A Korn with Character

Distilled from raw wheat and our own pale Weyermann® wheat malt, the Weyermann® Doppelkorn matures in fine chestnut wood casks. The result: a mild, well-balanced character (38% ABV, 0.5 l) that delights.

Bottled to celebrate Weyermann® Malt’s 145th anniversary, it bears the name of our company founder Johann Baptist Weyermann, who made history more than a century ago.

Philipp Schwarz, Master Distiller at the Weyermann® Distillery and a true lover of classic German spirits, describes this classic as a special distillate and, in his opinion: “The best you can make from wheat!”

DLG Special Award – A Mark of Highest Quality

Every year, the DLG evaluates spirits according to strict criteria such as appearance, clarity, aroma, taste, typicity, and harmony. A prerequisite for the special award is a gold medal. With the Johann Baptist Doppelkorn, Weyermann® not only meets these requirements – we set new standards.
