The “Ultimate Almanac” was written in the spring of 2010 by internationally renowned beer author Horst Dornbusch and sponsored by Weyermann® in conjunction with SCHULZ Brew Systems, our neighbour in Bamberg and the world’s oldest brew equipment manufacturer, as well as the Barth-Haas Group of Nuremberg, our friends and the world’s largest hop supplier.
“The Ultimate Almanac” is a unique collection of 101 of the world’s classic, most important, and most interesting beer recipes, and an authoritative repository of the world’s beer culture.

It is a surrogate of mankind’s brewing past, expertly adapted for use by modern brewers in the present. It is a product of the synergistic collaboration of four parties, the author and the three sponsors, each world experts in their fields. To the best of our knowledge there has never been a work like this, in any language! We hope this book will become the practical reference guide and an indispensable source of information for serious brewers all over the world—a tome to be kept handy in any brew house anywhere!
Thomas and I are particularly delighted to present this work at this time, because 2010 is the 20th anniversary year of our creative cooperation at Weyermann®, and it is the 16th year of our participation in the North American craft brew movement. Since then, many erstwhile strangers have become our friends, for which we are very grateful. The many wonderful brewers we have met since those early days have inspired Weyermann® to grow as a company and to development new products for the explosion of experimentation we have been privileged to witness. Most importantly, it has meant a wealth of personal experiences and new relationships for Thomas and me.
