The Weyermann® team says goodbye to Werner Hornung

The entire Weyermann® team says goodbye to Werner Hornung, Weyermann® logistics manager, who will retire after more than 34 years in and for the Weyermann® world.

The manager of the logistics center was born in the former world-famous porcelain city of Arzberg and grown up in a small village surrounded by fields, meadows and farms. After finishing primary school, secondary school and technical college and two semesters of electrical engineering as well as completing basic military service at the Bundeswehr, he started his commercial career with an apprenticeship as a wholesaler and foreign trade specialist at the BayWa AG the Thiersheim. After his apprenticeship, he moved to the BayWa branch office in Bamberg and became deputy head of the grain department.

From there, his journey continued to Weyermann®, where he started to work under the 3rd Weyermann® generation. Werner Hornung has witnessed and participated in the development of the company from a small regional malting to a world market leader in special malting, which makes him very proud: "Being part of the great success story Weyermann® is just great." With his tireless dedication, innovative spirit and logistical skills, he ensured that our malts made their way to our customers in 135 customer countries worldwide.

Read here the thoughts of his long-time companions Aishagul Schleicher, Grain Purchase Manager, and Klaus Bayer, Maintenance Electrician Bamberg:

Aishagul Schleicher: “Dear Werner,
After all these years of working together, the time has come for me to say THANK YOU. Thanks to you, we have successfully sold, shipped and delivered many thousands of tons of Weyermann® malts to our customers worldwide. You have greatly influenced the development and success of today´s malt factory Weyermann®.
Never was an order too much for you to handle, or a task too difficult! You always had an idea when we asked for your advice. You always shared your great knowledge regarding grain and malt. We will miss that!
Through your positive attitude and love for people, values and knowledge, you are a valued colleague and for many of us a model of our company.
Werner, thank you for your commitment during the past 34 years and wish you all the best for the future.

Klaus Bayer: “Werner is a friend and a companion. I especially appreciate the fact that he always kept calm and his routine in all situations!”

The Weyermann® team thanks Werner Hornung very much for his many, many years of loyal companionship and wishes him the best for his imminent retirement.
