Weyermann® brewing barley producer award 2016 – the winners have been chosen
Now the Weyermann® team of experts has selected the winners of the Weyermann® brewing barley award for the harvest 2015.
The five cultivators, who supply us with the best quality every year are:
- Matthias Dauer from Weismain
- Gerald Erlmann from Wonsees
- Roland Gräf from Thurnau
- Prüfer Gbr. From Leesau
- Gerhard Unger, from Wonsees
In-depth analysis preceded this result. Andreas Richter, Weyermann® head of quality assurance and management, Aishagul Schleicher, Weyermann® grain logistics, head maltster Joseph Gimmer and Andrea Koch, Weyermann® central laboratory, have compared samples and analysis results from the past three years. During this quality check, the focus was on the following criteria:
- texture: sorting
- evaluation: scent, spelt texture and visual impression
- optimal protein content
- delivery reliability for at least 3 subsequent years
In total 500 cultivators, for Weyermann® Malts valuable and loyal partners, supply the Weyermann® grain reception in Leesau with their grain, where it is stored under optimum conditions before the Bamberg traditional company produces its specialty malts from it, for whose high quality the world market leader regarding specialty malts is known throughout the world.
In 2012 Weyermann® Malts tendered the Weyermann® brewing barley award for the first time in over 135 years history of the company. The idea behind it, is the promotion of regional brewing barley cultivation in Upper Franconia.
Moreover we want to appreciate the outstanding merits of the cultivators to provide high quality brewing barley and thank them for their delivery reliability to "their“ specialty malts manufacture Weyermann®.
On February 3rd, the five selected cultivators will be honored at a reception at the specialty malts manufacture Weyermann®.
