From the 6th to the 10th of March 2011 our customer care representative for Africa, Nicole Feuring, attended a convention of the Institute of Brewing and Distilling in Uganda. More than 200 participants from all around the world, but mainly from Africa, joined in this interesting get together.
For the first day, Sunday, the organization had arranged an intensive training on beer flavors. During the week the visitors listened to educational presentations of various themes, such as “Appropriate Brewery designs for Africa”, “Malting – the interface between Agriculture and the Brewing & Distilling Industry”, “Bioactive compounds in the malting process”, “Africa goes Sorghum: Challenges and Opportunities”, “African Draught”, “If only there were more of Africa” and many, many more.
During a poster session Weyermann ® together with Jens Voigt from the University of Weihenstephan presented their test results on brewing with malted sorghum. Jens Voigt who was deeply involved in the test run answered all the upcoming questions.
After five days of intense networking and uncountable new impressions everybody agreed, that Africa offers endless possibilities and challenges.
