At the Copa Cervezas de América in Chile the Brazilian Brewery named “Bamberg”, a loyal Weyermann® customer, received some awards. They won the gold medal for their “Bamberg Weizen”, a wheat beer, and a silver medal for their “Bamberg Schwarzbier” as well as for their “Bamberg Munchen Dunkel”. In addition the brew master, Alexandre Bazzo was announced as “man of the year” and the brewery received the title as “best brewery of America (South America)”.
At the beginning of September the Latin America´s First International Copa Cervezas de América took place and a jury of 13 international people tasted 280 beers from 64 participants out of 21 countries. The beers, all brewed with Weyermann® malt of the brewery “Bamberg”, situated close to Sao Paulo, received the most medals and achieved the highest scores. That´s why the brewery founded in 2005, showing the old mayors house of Bamberg on their label, received the title as the “best brewery of South America”. For Alexandre Bazzo, brew master and beer sommelier it is an extreme honor to be called “man of the year”. Besides Alexandre Bazzo from the Brewery Bamberg there were presidents, athletes as well as singers and actors among the candidates. “What an excellent advertisement for the growing microbreweries scene in the country of Brasil”, agree Alexandre Bazzo, Sabine Weyermann and Thomas Kraus-Weyermann, management and 4th generation of Weyermann® malt.
