Weyermann® brewmaster in Czech Republic

09.07.2010
Oliver Honsel, Weyermann® and Weihenstephan brewmaster discovered together with Jens Pfannenschmidt (Weihenstephan brewmaster, Erdinger Weißbräu) and their significant others the Pilsner Urquell Brewery in Pilsen, Czech Republic, where Josef Groll (originally from Bavaria) invented 1842 the most popular beer in the World.
It was a great honour to receive a tour through the brewery, including old and new brewhouse as well as fermentation and storage cellars.
Everyone enjoyed the beer tasting in the storage cellar, where Pilsner Urquell is stored in wooden storage tanks.

Great thank you to the tour guides Pavel Prucha and Josef Cizwho who made this outstanding and impressive tour happen!

- 2009: The Weyermann® Pilot Brewery team, Brasserie Dieu de Ciel (Canada) and Live Oak Brewing Co. (USA) re-produced Josef Groll`s first brew by the original recipy of 1842 (which had been researched by Horst Dornbusch, US- American Beer Journalist)!
Of course - Weyermann® Bohemian Pilsner Floor Malt was used, which is traditionally crafted at the last floor malting facility in the
Czech Republic. -

Ongoing they visited "Purkmistr" brewery, which is also located in Pilsen and enjoyed its creative beers during a beer tasting.

Thank you to Mr Mic and Mr Krysl for a very interesting tour through the brewery!

After a beautiful time in Pilsen, they joined the Beerfestival in Prague, where more than 70 various types of beers and traditional Czech dishes were served.
Most of the participating breweries were loyal Weyermann® customers.
