Dear Sabine and Weyermann® Team,
I would like to thank you for your sponsorship in the Copa Cerveza Guadalajara 2009, everything went very well with the competition, and all the participants appreciated the fact that Weyermann® Specialty Malts and MI CerveSA supported the competition and therefore the craft brewing industry in Mexico.
This is the first time that a professional beer competition is being held in Mexico, as well as the first BJCP certified competition.
We had the participation of a total of 15 breweries with a total of 50 beers. (12 Mexican breweries with 42 beers, and 3 international breweries with 8 beers).
The beers were judged by 3 BJCP certified judges and a professional brewer from Denmark, who is now living and brewing in Mexico.
Here is a short list of the Gold Medal Winners:
a) Miller high Life, Miller Brewing Co - Light Lager Category
b) Santa Fe, Beer Factory - Dark Lager Category
c) Tempus Dorada, Cerveceria Primus - Light to amber Ales Category
d) London Porter, Fullers Brewery - Dark Ales Category
e) Abbey Tripel, Cerveceria Calavera - Wheat and Specialty Beers
The winner of the grand prize "Copa Cerveza" was Cerveceria Calavera, they won 3 medals, 1 Gold, 1 Silver and 1 Bronce.
All the awards had the Weyermann® and MI CerveSA logo as sponsors.
