Great success for the young microbrewery from Liechtenstein, a loyal Weyermann® customer. On the occasion of the 9th “Solothurner” beer days, the Liechtenstein brewery with its beer “Kellerstoff” received the award as the Swiss Beer of the year 2011 in the category special beer “hell”. At the tasting more than 100 different beers were entered, from breweries from all over Switzerland. The beer types “Krona”, “Weiza” and “Dunkel´s” achieved best results. The microbrewery from Liechtenstein received the most awards and so was the most successful brewery at this most renowned Swiss beer competition.
An international highly qualified jury did two blindfolded tastings before judging the best beers in the following categories: “Spezialbiere hell untergärig”, “Dunkle Biere untergärig”, “Weizenbiere obergärig” and “Kreative Biere”. The jury was led by the well known sensory assessor Dr. Peter Dürr. The winning beer “Kellerstoff” of the brewery from Liechtenstein is an unfiltered beer, directly bottled from the storage tanks without filtration.
Bruno Güntensperger, managing director of the Liechtensteiner Brauhaus is more than happy about the award: “It´s a great acknowledgement for our work and after past awards in 2009 (gold medal for the “Weiza”) and 2010 (silver medal for the “Hell”) it shows us, that we are going the right way. The high quality work of our brewmaster Michael Hanreich and his team got rewarded. Beer is a fresh product and this is even more emphasized with our unfiltered “Kellerstoff”, where all the healthy yeast parts and the vitamins are still present.”
The prize giving was on the 28th of April 2011 in Solthurn with many guests of honor.
