In the city of Freising, worldwide well known for its University for brewing technologies and the oldest brewery another very old tradition is uphold. The oldest constantly happening students “Stammtisch” (regulars´ table) is held every Friday during the University term since 1892 by a group of students called “Weißbierbrüder” (wheat beer brothers) of the students’ fraternity called “Landsmannschaft im CC Bavaria zu Weihenstephan”. The group of wheat beer brothers is headed by the wheat beer pope. After one year of being in duty all their names will be engraved in the table top of the regulars´ table. It takes about seven years until the table top is full of names and the plate will be moved from the traditional pub where the “Stammtisch” is held every Friday to the main house of the students´ fraternity in a festive ceremony. This year time has come again and a new table top is needed and this is where Jürgen Buhrmann, managing director of Weyermann®, steps into the game. He himself was the wheat beer pope No. 91 and maybe was the first wheat beer pope ever who engraved his own name and the names of his wheat beer brothers into the table top himself. This is where another tradition started and the students are bringing the table top every year to Bamberg, so that Jürgen Buhrmann may engrave the names. For the first time ever he also engraved the decorative centre piece of the table top with a special students sign and some filigree ornaments. The new table top is sponsored by Thomas Kraus-Weyermann, Weyermann® management. After many hard working hours the table top is finally finished and ready to be handed over right in time for this year´s 150th anniversary of the student’s fraternity, happening in May 2012. For this special event there was also a special beer brewed in the Weyermann® brewery.
